Clerkenwell Design Week
07.06.24
Clerkenwell Design Week has welcomed the interior design and architectural community since 2009. This year, over 160 exhibitors showcased their new products and innovations over the course of a hectic 3 days. Here are just a few examples of great design and functionality we came across.
Nest: Flokk / Connection
Nest (by Flokk / Connection) is a versatile, reconfigurable solution that utilises the natural shape of the hexagon, which has a symmetrical, simple form, that allows it to tesselate seamlessly and create larger, more complex structures. When used individually, the Nest unit can be a seat or table, even a planter, perfect for placement in the centre of a collaborative space. Alternatively, you can stack it vertically to make storage, display units, whiteboards and notice boards. It is simply one unit which includes seating, tables, storage, work wall, acoustic screening, or an aesthetic visual piece perfect setup for any environment.
JDD Furniture: Clara & Terry Bubble Seating
JDD Furniture has expanded their popular Clara and Bob meeting pod ranges into new acoustic meeting pods ideal for individual work or video conferencing. Acoustic panels provide a noise reduced environment, increasing privacy. Many other features include a built-in table, built in chair, lighting, commercial carpets, ventilation, TV bracket and power outlets. Four sizes and various configurations are available, making it a perfect fit for any setting.
Terry is a modular bubble seating unit, a great feature product for any room. Many sizes and shapes are available to suit each space, long, short, round, or curved, or you can upholster individual modules in different upholstery.
Table Place Chairs: Pipeline
Pipeline is a fluted table base that is as solid and well-engineered as it is stylish. Formed in steel, with hidden adjusters to counteract uneven flooring, you can specify it in any standard RAL and it is fully recyclable. Designed to support tables up to 1200mm diameter and at various heights, the Pipeline standard dining table base features a baseplate for added stability. Table Place Chairs also have a variety of tabletop options to create the finished statement piece.
Frovi: Isle Table / Bae Modular Seating
Frovi’s Isle Table makes a statement with its simple design. Available in several sizes, shapes, colours, and finishes, this unique piece comes with a waterfall edge detail, rounded edges, a seamless power flap and concealed cable management including cutouts for cables. Apparently, Frovi developed Isle as a response to the need for a softer, more domestic feel for modern-day commercial furniture and design. With its rounded ends that promote inclusivity and social interaction, and its natural timber texture that helps create a tranquil atmosphere, we think they’ve succeeded.
Bae is an organic shaped modular seating system which provides endless possibilities for space planning. Arrange the linkable five different units in multiple sweeping configurations or create separate conversational islands with a couple of pieces; Bae allows for endless options. The materials are organic too, with a bamboo or natural ash frame
Lighting exhibition
From recycled handmade shades to pendants, wall lights and aesthetic feature pieces, the lighting exhibition is always one not to miss. Whether you want to create bright areas or an intimate, warm environment, there is always something for every space!
Humanscale: Freedom Chair turns 25
Humanscale is celebrating 25 years of its iconic Freedom Chair. Crafted by the designer ‘Niels Diffrient’, this chair is not your traditional self-adjusting seat. Freedom supports and effortlessly adapts to each user’s unique body, with no need for constant adjustments. In celebration of this anniversary, Humanscale has released an additional finish for the back frame, which is beautifully crafted in full chrome, creating a more elegant look and feel.
